Welcome to Bois d’Arc Lake!

Bois d’Arc Lake is the newest major reservoir in Texas in over 30 years. The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) owns and operates the lake located northeast of Bonham in Fannin County. The lake’s primary purpose is to supply drinking water to the growing region, and NTMWD began delivering water in March 2023.

Visitors to Bois d’Arc Lake can enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, picnicking and other activities around the lake. There are three public access areas with boat launch ramps, day-use picnic areas and restrooms.

NTMWD is responsible for operating the lake, boat ramps, and managing the shoreline. The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are responsible for law enforcement, hunting, boating and fishing regulations, and public safety on the lake.
