The North Texas Municipal Water District broke ground on the new Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir on May 25 in Fannin County. This is the first reservoir to be built in Texas in 30 years and is expected to be complete in 2022.
The water security of North Texas took a step forward Friday with the North Texas Municipal Water District’s ground breaking on a significant reservoir project in Fannin County. It will be the first major reservoir built in North Texas in nearly 30 years.
After 15 years of preparation, the Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir is finally on the verge of becoming a reality.
The project received its final permit on Friday. "This is really a big, big deal for Fannin County," said County Judge Spanky Carter. "It's the first lake in the State of Texas to be constructed in 30 years, so this doesn't happen just every day."
