Why North Texas Needs Bois d’Arc Lake

As the population grows in North Texas, so does its demand for water. The population in NTMWD’s service area is expected to nearly double by 2050.

More people and businesses mean we need to build more water storage and treatment facilities. While conservation and reuse are crucial for meeting future demands, additional water supply and storage are also needed. Bois d’Arc Lake is an essential part of the State’s long-term water supply plan. It will bring in additional water supplies to not only to help meet future water needs but also provide key economic and recreational benefits to the surrounding region.
